From October 14 to 18, 2024, the Department of Knowledge and Valorisation of Agricultural Products at CRA-W organized its 16th annual training course on vibrational spectroscopy and chemometrics. This course provides a thorough overview of both theoretical and practical aspects of these two disciplines, ensuring their proper application in various fields, particularly in food and agriculture.
This year’s session welcomed 12 participants from 5 different countries, representing research institutes, universities, and companies. The course also featured four distinguished guest speakers: Wouter Saeys (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), Tom Fearn (University College London), Beatriz Carrasco (Mining4Quality), and Pierre Dardenne, consultant and former head of the department.
The post-training evaluation showed that the course successfully met participants' expectations. Attendees confirmed that much of the knowledge gained would be applied in their experimental and analytical work. Participants also praised the organization, the expertise of the training team, and the quality of materials and facilities, reinforcing the course's importance.
Encouraged by this positive feedback, we look forward to continuing the organization of this training in the coming years.
