Abstract Following the proposal of a laboratory method to evaluate the side effects of pesticides on Aphidius rhopalosiphi De Stefani-Perez (Hymenoptera, Aphidiidae), a parasitoid of cereal aphids, the influence of relative humidity (60% and 85%), photoperiod (16 h light and obscurity), storage temperature of mummies (2 deg C and 20 deg C) and the sensitivity of females and males was studied. It appears from these results that the most important factors is relative humidity. Storage temperature of mummies is also important. Photoperiod during the assays and sex of parasitoids seem to have no influence on the sensitivity to phosalone.
