During a seminar organized by the Renew Europe group in Brussels, Adrien Swartebroeckx (U09) had the opportunity to engage with European parliamentarians following the final report of the “Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture”. He shared the unit’s vision on the need for a just transition for a more sustainable sector. This need is based, on the one hand, on the socio-economic difficulties faced by farmers, who recently demonstrated in this same European quarter of Brussels, and, on the other hand, on numerous scientific reports highlighting the impact of climate change and soil degradation on agriculture, and vice versa.
By drawing on concrete projects such as DECiDE, Terraé, and Agroecology-Transect, this moment was an opportunity to examine new methodologies for addressing these issues, as well as the barriers that still need to be overcome to achieve this transition. A great opportunity to illustrate the CRA-W’s involvement in the transition of agricultural systems through its research work.
